PRIMECUTS Recordings : The Digital Sourspot
QUALITY CREATIVE & EXPERIMENTAL MUSIC ON CDR
Removing the need for industry standards since the 20th Century

* 2007 -2009*

Prime#131 MICHAELTHOMASJACKSON : Innocuous Sunshine
Stases...CDR...$8
Two extended drone works; one for inherent feedback system ("The
Innocuous Presence Of Family Felt") and one for electric bass feedback
("Goodnight Sunshine") bringing the Penburn Labz days to a close. Both
are part of the "Phasing Stasis" series (numbers 4 & 5, respectively)
specially recorded for interactive psycho-acoustic listening / involvement.

Prime#127 PRIMAL ESCAPEMENT : Bodies...CDR...soon
The venerable Faze Exile's latest recording endeavor brings him out from
under the projectors and into his own personalized world of special music
and wordsmithmanship aided by Tom Devlin III & MTJ. Look for live
actions in '09.

Prime#113 REVERSE MOUTH : The Confusion Of The Sound Of
Confusion...CDR...$8
From the supposed cradle of Western civilization comes an irreverant
orgy of guitar noise, tightly controlled feedback and vocal eruptions.
Panagiotis and Sofia unearthed an old cassette recording of vintage RM
which I am proud to offer in a newly mastered jewel case edition of 49
copies, hand stamped and numbered.

Prime #109 GEORGE STEELTOE ENSEMBLE : Comtrails Over
Carolina...3" CDR...$5
Two choice selections from an octet version of the group recorded
during a break while on tour in April 2007; more free than jazz, like
more AMM than AACM with some lovingly executed spasms,
spontaneous combustions and a somewhat gentler demeanor.
Features members of Talibam!, Blastocyst, Dead Elephant Bicycle,
Spool Ensemble and Dosdedos.
Numbered edition of 41 with hand-painted cover art

Prime #107 CIGMA6 : Growth Resumed On The Work...CDR...$8
MTJ & Chris Phinney (Mental Anguish) began recording together
over 20 years ago. Now they pick up where they left off in the 90s
(as Cancerous Growth) with a fresh batch of vintage Moog synth
improv workouts and a track of digital file-sharing. Unadulterated
psychedelic noisescapes from two who should know. Maybe space
really is the place. These bros hope so and so should you

Prime #103 MICHAELTHOMASJACKSON : Transonic...
CDR...$8
Two versions of the third installation of the Phasing Stasis series and
this one's a real head-swim. More psycho-acoustics by way of the
Transonic IXL and some live digital processing. 3.2 is an edition of
only 8 copies (edition size dictated by the cutting-up of an original
work of visual art) plus there is an open edition of 3.1 with random
graphics so grab one now and stay tuned for additional versions and
concert realizations.

Prime #101 MICHAELTHOMASJACKSON : Mass Wasting...
2 X CDR...$10
Hypnosis based on a geomorphic model. Two hours of analogue
synth-based works that are like a genetic mutation of Brion Gysin's
dream machine, the extreme minimalism of Tony Conrad and a
healthy dose of entropy. As the circuits fry, you'll either go into a
peaceful trance, embark on a spree of ill-will or take up geology as
your new major with an unprecedented fervour. It's all in your mind.
Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law.

Prime #97 MICHAELTHOMASJACKSON : Eine Kleine Notmusik
...CDR...soon
Anti-music as a positive experience. Seventy-five minutes of the
soundtrack to your neveryday activities. Never hear Robert Ashley's
"Automatic Writing ?" It's the only point of reference I couldn't think
of. Comes packaged with an unlistenable disc of original art. Special
contributions from Ian Caskey & Lori-Beth Russell. Special indeed.

Prime #89 MICHAELTHOMASJACKSON : Paris au Printemps...
3" CDR...$5
Nineteen minutes of psychoacoustic phenomena realized using an
input-free feedback configuration. The second of the "Phasing Stasis"
works. Should appeal to fans of composers with names like Lucier,
Scelsi and Niblock. Whirl like a dervish and create your own version.
Each copy has unique artwork...get busy doing nothing

Prime #83 CEPHALIC INDEX : 87 Trophies...CDR...$8
aka 'What I Did My Senior Year Of High School'- reissue of loop-laden
4-track works from Jan-May 1987 culled from the cassettes "Atrophy,"
"Suck," and "Crieblood." Crunchy psychedelic noise in a numbered
edition of 23 in a DVD case with vintage CI art & an original photograph.

Prime #79 MICHAELTHOMASJACKSON : Dead Orchid...3" CDR...$5
A single work for no-input electronic feedback configuration recorded
near the end of 2006 released on Valentine's Day 2007. This is perhaps
the harshest and most texturally dense work in quite some time. Comes
as a numbered edition of 23 copies

Prime #73 SPOOL ENSEMBLE + EUGENE CHADBOURNE : Ape Real
Fools ...CDR...soon
Long overdue release of this live collaboration from 2000. Features
Eugene on banjo, guitar and a contraption fashioned from a bicycle
pump alongside the 'classic' SPOOL lineup : A.Bachelder (percussion)
MT Jackson (clarinet, etc) & Joel Lambdin (violin)

Prime #71 BOTANICAL ISOTOPES : "Phyllocephala" Refoliated...CDR...soon
MTJ's "Phyllocephala" remixed and reinterpreted with tracks from AARON
BACHELDER, REMOTE CONTROL FREQUENCIES, CHEAPMACHINES,
MENTAL ANGUISH, THE DAYS OF PERKY PAT, JABBERWOCKY,
SAMBSON, DAVE FUGLEWICZ, THOMAS DIMUZIO, THE SYNTAX OF
THINGS and SKOWEYAJEED.

Prime #67 BRIAN OSBORNE & MICHAELTHOMASJACKSON :
Circuist Circuts ...CDR...$8
Collects various live and studio, acoustic and electronic recordings and
subjects them to post-production work. Osborne's propulsive drumming
and subtle work with small percussives meld organically with Jackson's
reeds and nearly diaphanous electronics. Take a heaping dose of duende
and sprinkle it with magick faerie dust and BAM. It's the new free weird
jazz america underground, or simply audio verite vs. musique concret in
a loving stalemate. Check !

Prime #61 ALIEN PLANETSCAPES : Transmitting From Brooklyn And
Boston ...CDR...$8
Rare recordings from early 1988 featuring the Doug Walker/Carl Howard
duo. Includes the entire live set from the 'Bar None' in Brooklyn, a studio
improv from the original 'Space Station' (both previously released on a
cassette by XKURZHEN SOUND) plus a previously unreleased session
recorded with MTJ @ his crib in Boston. Classic analogue space electronics
in a numbered edition of 61 copies.

* RELEASES 2002-2006
Prime #59 MICHAELTHOMASJACKSON : The Twentythree Pieces...
CDR...$7
compositions sculpted entirely of electronic feedback source recordings
created, processed and mixed between the Autumnal equinox of 2005 and
the Vernal equinox of 2006...each copy with original artwork

Prime #53 MICHAELTHOMASJACKSON : Phyllocephala...3" CDR...$5
this electro-acoustic work from 2005 features intercom
feedback, analogue pulsations, a heart monitor & various sundry sound
sources...meticulously hand-packaged in an edition of 53 copies

Prime #47 REMOTE CONTROL FREQUENCIES : Jules Verne Travel
Promotion ...CDR...$7
beat-oriented abstract electronica with plenty of grit & some hip-hop
aesthetics from R-Rock & co...guest spots from free-sax great WALLY
SHOUP and some def(t) MCing from JONNY FEAR & KAPTAIN NEMO
complement this subaquatic adventure housed in a letter-size bag with
color cover and inserts.

Prime #43 MICHAELTHOMASJACKSON : Reed Deep In Troll Space...CDR...GONE
MTJ's first all-acoustic solo release featuring clarinet, bass clarinet
and various toy instruments recorded in an empty apartment at the end of
2004. These improvisations explore the artist's personal vocabulary of
beaks & breaths; microtones & multiphonics; silences & sinuous lines.
Uppercase, lowercase & outercase...which is graced by an original painting
on acetate. As raw as war, but much nicer.

Prime #41 O.N.E. : Chronicles 1...CDR...$7
free improvised chamber groups recorded in 2003-2004. Features MTJ
(clarinet, electronics, etc), CAMERON BRITT, SAM BYRD, IAN DAVIS, SCOTTY
IRVING & BRIAN OSBORNE (percussion), CROWMEAT BOB & JIMMY GHAPHERY
(saxophones), PAT LAWRENCE & DAVID MENESTRES (bass), TOM KRAINES (cello),
JOEL LAMBDIN (violin), JOE MORGAN, WILL HUNNICUTT & SAMB HICKS (various
instruments & electronics)

Prime #37 SPOOL ENSEMBLE : Duo Improvisations...CDR...$7
Aaron Bachelder (live sampling & processing) and MTJ (no-input mixing
board feedback, zither, deer call) explore the organic possibilities
of electro-acoustic improv and examine the threshold of human audibility.
Leg assembly required.

Prime #31 MICHAELTHOMASJACKSON : Elsewhere All At Once...3"CDR...$5
Randomly generated musique concret of sounds recorded at the Greensboro
Artist Collaborative space. This is merely one possible realisation of
"Space Projective 2" with the sounds of WWII canteens, creaking windows,
antique toys, amplified fabric, and more. Comes packaged in a handsewn
pouch w/ liner notes & an original scribble from the non-composer.

Prime #29 SKOWEYAJEED : Codflower...CDR + 3"CDR...$10
a mandala, a mute mantra, a meta-tation, a medi-physical and magickal
drone disc duo. Suitable for yoga, goddess worship, or the rite of your
choice. Packaged in a unique jewel-pack thingy with original paintings
on paper & aluminum

Prime #23 SKOWEYAJEED : Meaty Beaty B.I.G. & Beyonce...CDR...$7
a compendium celebrating 5 years of "laptop-free plunderphonics." Collects
live pieces, compilation tracks, remixes & other questionable sonics.
Radio-friendly in an anti-RIAA way with less dramtic irony & more iconic
dramaturgy. All dressed up in gold & black, these folks may need a lawyer.

Prime #19 ZANOISE & RAMISWAMI @ 40...CDR...$8
a compilation honoring audio saboteur Zan Hoffman & his legendary work with
the Zidsick label. Zan has used other people's sounds as the basis for his
work and the time has come for some of his colleagues to return the favor.
BIG CITY ORCHESTRA, BC, DAVE FUGLEWICZ, CHEAPMACHINES &
SKOWEYAJEED plow through his back catalog with a variety of results.
Other aural goodies come courtesy of RINUS VAN ALEBEEK & the Zidsick
catalog itself. Limited edition of 40 with a hand-painted aluminum plate.

Prime #17 MICHAELTHOMASJACKSON : Three Inlets...2 X CDR...GONE
3 live electro-acoustic works from 2003 concerts. Sourcing clarinets, toys,
percussion, flutes, analogue synthesizers, field recordings & other sundry
items : sounds are sculpted & processed into rich sonic tapestries blurring
the distinction between nature & machination. Some passages physically
envelop the listener, while others require deep listening to reveal the
microsonic activities at play. Packaged in an oversized gatefold poly bag.

Prime #13 SKOWEYAJEED : Mukoni Ridis Hetropal 1...3"CDR...GONE
welcome to your 'malrhythmic anatopia.' When in Rome do as a chance meeting
on a splicing block, finely mincing the trajectory of hip-hop, add a dash
of Phil Spector's demntia, season with Small Faces, combine in Pierre
Schaefer's blender, and have Fela serve it up with percussion jam...oh my ;
it's code red ! The big ending's beginning ! (live March, 2003)

Prime #11 SKOWEYAJEED : Having Ever Been Bludgeoned By A Truncheonette
...3"CDR...$4
given free reign to work with the live master tapes from the TRUNCHEONETTE
guitar ensemble series, this commentary emerged. Reduced to a duo in the
summer of 2003 while holed up in a youth hostel in Belgium with only 2 CD
players & a 4-track, here is the result.

Prime #7 TRUNCHEONETTE : Andeithor...CDR...$7
A 2002 concert series of guitar improvisations brought 8 people together in
various combinations. The material was subjected to some post-editing and
makes for avant-noodling, pedal-happy tweaking and down home psychedelia
that never sounded so good together. Like Jimi, Bailey & Keith Rowe never
hooked up ?!

Prime #5 SKOWEYAJEED : Mortymix...CDR...$7
these folks seem to share an affinity for Persian rugs with one of the last
centuries greatest composers. They prefer, however, to view (listen) to the
rugs through shards of broken mirrors & foggy glasses. This 70+ minute work
was a birthday celebration concert from January, 2003, and plunders over 27
of the uncle's compositions, who presided as a post-mortem guest.

Prime #3 SKOWEYAJEED : Halque Maldai Rus...3"CDR...$4
plagiarhythmic middle-eastern disco via live musique concret. "Ramadan
Profanis" meets a green Thirwell, Levittown loops, a Turnbull or two,and
a Memphis Moneymaker. Live set from November, 2002.

Prime #2 MICHAELTHOMASJACKSON : What The Mute Philogogue Told The Deaf Tonician
At The Place Of The Blind Aesthete...CDR...$8
69 minutes of improvisations for electronic feedback system recorded in
2002. Dense clusters of tones swirl into & out of washes of static and
unsettled quietude. This is physical music with shifting textures and
microtonal nuance. Packaged in a gatefold poly bag with original paintings.

Chicago. Tracks by SKOWEYAJEED, MORMON FREEGAN, THOMAS DIMUZIO,

a collection of fully notated works from 1994-1998. Includes solo works (for violin,
oboe, percussion), a setting for mezzo-soprano & piano, two trios for clarinet, violin
& 'cello, a string quartet, a quintet for wind instruments and a sextet for flute,
clarinet, violin, 'cello, bass & piano. These are amateur concert-hall recordings but
I'm making them available as a private issue for the curious into my 'academia.'

FLUTTER : Live in the Temple of Tea...CDR...$7
improvisations recorded live in 2005 by the trio of Bob Holub(accordion/
pedals), Matt Wyatt (drums/percussion) & MTJ (clarinet). Excellent dynamic
and timbral interplay characterize this well-recorded set. Note : this is
a mid-Atlantic U.S. group & not the U.K. group FLUTTER.

SPOOL ENSEMBLE : Three Electronics...3" CDR...$5
Duo improvisations employing no-input mixing board & live sampling and
processing. Numbered edition of 39 housed in a DVD-style case released by
Heat Retention Records.

SPOOL ENSEMBLE : Trio Improvisations 2000...CDR...$7
The 'classic' SPOOL lineup- Aaron Bachelder (percussion), MTJ (clarinets)
and Joel Lambdin (violin). This is truly intuitive improv/spontaneous
composition that equally shares the aesthetics of Webern & the AACM.
These recordings are lost treasures in the annals of creative music !

SPOOL ENSEMBLE/UPSIDEDOWN STARS : split CDR...$6
Includes SPOOL in an electro-acoustic trio lineup (w/ Bob Holub) recorded
live in October 2005. UPSIDEDOWN STARS contribute one of their signature
drone-heavy tracks that teeters on the edge of 'rock.' Lovely olive-green
origami packaging released by Rabbot Recordings.

ROMPECABEZA : Ball Peen Companion...CD...$6 (Huel Records)
The 1997 release from this one-of-a-kind North Carolina art-damaged rock
group. Something like PERE UBU jamming with JESUS LIZARD at one of those
free-jazz '70s loft sessions while ZORN discovers his manhood.

VARIOUS ARTISTS : Endless Grindstone...CD...$4
out of print compilation released by K.O. City Studios in 1988. The music
is industrial-tinged & rhythm based and features DATA BANK A, CANCEROUS
GROWTH, NOMUZIC, CARBON 14, DOMINION, PARADE OF SINNERS, SCHISM & more.
Limited copies available !
